Summer Term
Literacy:
Reception class will be reading:
- Traditional stories and rhymes
- Fairy stories
- Poems and action verses
- Simple non-fiction books
Reception pupils will:
revise phonic work, letter sounds and blending,
write letters with the correct formation,
recognise and read high frequency words,
understand and use book terms,
write sentences,
develop language and communication skills in the role play areas.
Numeracy:
Reception pupils will:
revise number recognition and the correct formation,
combine and partition sets,
recognise coins and their value,
tell the time, o’clock and half past, name and describe properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
Knowledge and Understanding
Mini-beast topic, learning about bees and honey, animal care, pond life observations, holiday topic, holiday destinations, methods of travelling, keeping cool and safe in hot weather.
Physical Development
Team games, races, sports day activities, gymnastics, floor work and apparatus, development of gross motor skills and control.
Creative Development
Composing and copying rhythms with instruments, singing with confidence, painting with increased detail and control.
Personal, Social and Emotional DevelopmentSocial and cooperative skills, group work and ability to work independently, recognition of emotions and how to express them, circle time activities.
